True Friend

I wasn't sure what to write you

I couldn't decide what to make rhyme

But then I figured it will come to me

If I just take some time

I knew I couldn't just make it up

I wanted it to be great

But then I started to waste time

And found myself writing really late

It came to me one night

While lying in my bed

It awoke me in the middle of a dream

Something that I truly dread

Leaving you without a good bye

Without a poem for you to remember me

I didn't want that to happen

I can't just leave friends, as you can see

When I arrived at this church

One person really stuck out

She caught my eye as I stepped inside

She looked beautiful, without a doubt

I told myself, "I'm going to write her a poem"

But I couldn't think of what to write

That's never happened to me before

And I was thinking with all my might

So then I knew you were special

Someone I had to get to know

Someone worth remembering

Someone, with me, that could go

To go with me to a place

Meeting in heaven above

To go with me to meet Jesus

And share, with you, all of His love

So remember me in the future

And I'll surely remember you

I knew your friendship was true
