She Goes To Sleep

By: Justin Trigg

She walks slowly to the bedroom door

Tired mind and achy bones

I’m telling her I want her to stay more

I’m going to sleep throw your stones

She says

She wakes

Early days

Double takes

Her mood runs deep

She says she has to go to sleep

Empty mug of coffee and a warm sheet

Worn down mattress shaky hands

Lay down beside to get off my feet

More and more sleep she keeps with demands

I’m awake

I’m tired

She fakes

She’s wired

At times softly I creep

All night I watched her sleep

Long days short nights are coarse

She waits around for a nights fix

I can’t stand the empty remorse

She tired of all my stupid tricks

We go

We struggle

It’s shows

No snuggle

Do other weary souls start to reap

I can’t believe on this night she wants to sleep
