Not Yet Gone

On the last night of my life,
I dreamed a dreamless dream
I was in a place where I walked on white air
Where there were no floors or walls
And I called the names of people I didn’t know
I could not tell if I was dead or alive
I could not see myself or who or what I was

The light was grey but there was no source,
for there did not seem to be a sky..
I could not fall,
Nor was there a breeze that told me
if the heavens were above me or below
My body made no shadow,
yet I was as solid as I was sure I was supposed to be

It was silent, my voice was near
did not wander, did not echo
I did not think I was in hell, or close to any heaven
I could not feel my conscience or hear my heart beat
My feet made no sound and my breath was still
I was lost, yet seemingly safe
Trapped where I was, no direction to follow
There was not a souls nor object to be seen for miles

This hollow, empty place where I strayed to be
Was there something I was supposed to see?
Was there a thought that was supposed to come to me?

I was alone, maybe for an eternity
Nothing to be and nothing to say
Is this how the beginning was?
Was there no one who would come
to show me the way out?
to show me darkness or better light?
I couldn’t cry, I did not know what tears were
I couldn’t laugh, I never heard the noise before
But where was I? Where am I??
                    ..HELP ME, SOMEONE, PLEASE--!
