i think sometimes mankind needs to reflect
on why things happen
like what happened at virginia tech
when tragedies happen
they seem to have an effect
to bring us together
unite us in purpose and cause
but when i pause
and stop to think, i wonder
why do we forget the clause
that says, “one nation, under god”?
when things happen like 9-11
people start to wonder
is there a god in heaven?
why do we have to feel this pain?
i dont want to complain
but its not god who is to blame
in this life, well all have the choice
to do bad or good
but let me raise my voice
and tell you that christ lives
and through all this pain
his love he still gives
so lets come together
one nation under god
and lets show some respect
and some love for those
who felt the effect
of the shooting at virginia tech

That one I appreciate. I love the way you didn't just focus on pain and reflection but on God who we blame for the bad and never really give Him the credit for the good....when I say "we" I mean mankind. Very well. |

There are alot of people who think they are poets. Many of them aren't very good. You are not one of those people. I really really loved your poem. In a world where less and less people are believing in God, and choose to believe in a religion created by a science fiction writer (no offense to scientologists..), I'm glad that at least one other person admits that Christ lives. Again, I loved it. =) |

Great poem! Like you said, it sucks that we only come together when something tragic happens like 9/11 or VT shootings. It's also sad that the media does continious coverage on this stuff to the point of where we change the channel and say "enough already!" It's not fair that they make us do that to them and "fillibuster" the tragedy. Great poem though! |
