Thoughts On A Nation

We fight for freedom,

Or so they say.

This elusive goal is the last thing on their mind.

Our leaders want blood,

An eye for an eye,

And it may be easier to look the other way,

But more lives have been lost in this war

Than the tragedy that sparked it.

Are we so blinded by propaganda

That we will never see the truth?

These billions of dollars they spend on this futile fight

Could instead feed our hungry,

And yes I speak from a starving stomach.

Stand up for your country if you will,

But I will take a stand for what is right.

And if the representatives of this fine nation

Wish to dig their own graves,

I'll be damned if they save me a spot.

If any good, god fearing, patriotic U.S. Citizens read this and were offended, fuck off. Your arguement is no better than mine, and neither brings a solution to the problem. So to all the flag waving yankee doodles stop worrying about the protestors and take a look at the death tolls. The government sends the future of america off to die, and who's to say we didn't lose the mind that would find ways to cure currently uncontrollable diseases, or the mind that would figure out how to stop global warming, all due to a fight we dont belong in.
