In my life I’ve done much Been much to many people Earned some names Spurned many more Call me what you will Think of me how you will When you will, if you do I’ve earned it No not this night I don’t want to be the spirit Not the one that justifies you I don’t want to be the song Not any that would inspire you I don’t want to be the strength That helps you through the day I don’t want to be the dream That tucks you in at night I don’t want to be the questions That help you find the answers I don’t want to be the love That tingles on your lips I don’t want to be the friend who is there when you need one No not this night This night I lay fallen The need to rise long gone Call me what you will I will not answer to you I’ve done my share I couldn’t care any more Let me sleep this night I’ve earned it
