Out of the corner of my eye
I swear I saw you there
Watching, judging without gesture
And it has been here
A never ending friend
An all too constant trend
In shadows forever waiting
Silent all these years
Perched on every branch
Beneath every lonely stone
Attached to all emotion
Corrupting every thought
Flickering in every flame
Swimming in every falling tear
A primeval state of mind
Of constant friendless time
A lonely wisp of smoke
A sharp loss of hope
The failings of moral action
Proof of loves retraction
Left-handed gestures
Right-handed reactions
A pull to match the positive
The source of every silence
Existence implied since birth
Denying mankind’s works
Taken in with every breath
Within all things is death
