Change Around Me

Another lie, another sigh
Another not-so-heartfelt goodbye
Continued silence but not reverence
Greeted with one more late deliverance
Safe from the world
But I can't escape myself
Not to be distracted by
My steadily worsening health

Captivated by what I said I hated
My weaknesses appear golden-plated
Trembling from the weight of the world
Amazed by how the lies have unfurled
Another horribly bitter taste
Of last-minute pure indecision
Recovering from the last time
My heart dealt with a new incision

I contemplate how long I should wait
For the world to change around me
And I decide it's time I didn't hide
From all I'm unable to see
