Table For Two

Sitting all alone
just this table and me,
You said you would be home for two,
and its now a quarter till three.
I am starting to wonder
if you will come home soon.
The last time we spoke
was just before noon.
I told you I loved you
and I only heard bye.
Maybe I missed it,
or you meant to try.
Well darkness is arriving
and the candle is burning out.
Maybe something happened
and I have no reason to pout.
I suppose I will sit by the phone
and hope for you to call.
I am afraid to talk to anyone
due to trying to hide my feelings from all.
Well the table is empty
but the two set plates and the food in the tray.
Just wanted to let you know.
