i had a dream last night
YOU were there inside
the center of my attention
i smiled and held YOU tight.
in that dream i felt
all my sadness drift away
YOU were there beside me
i need not to feel that way.
YOUR warmth and presence inside my dream
gave me strength to carry on
it felt as if i was loved
not long before that dream was gone.
i woke up from that dream
a smile rose upon my face
it soon after, left
all my happiness erased.
i was intoxicated by that dream
YOU were nowhere in sight
a tear fell down from my face
it was too good to be right.
now that dream is a memory
YOU are a memory too
memories can only live so long
and there is nothing i can do.
