Who is that man

In ragged clothes and such

Shuffling around

At dusk

On the street corner

With a bucket in one hand

And a sign in the other

Begging and pleading

As he watch the wealthy stroll by

None of them took a second glance at him

They carried on with their own lives

While what was only minutes, but was a lifetime

To him

Not a cent was tossed in

Sighing with sadness

He gathered his clothes

That seem to be heap of rags to others

But to him it was a gift from the heavens

Towards the dumpster he went

With sneers and smirks from the passer-by's

Into his home he goes

Drowning the light coming towards him

Closing his eyelids for one last time

Hands collapsing into a prayer

Murmuring the word goodbye into the air

The Basic story of his life

Many days later

Authorities finally found him

Didn't care less

Because he was another dead homeless man

As I am sadden

At the thought of

Who are these men, women and children

Lookin4TruLuv This is an even more elaborate description of the bit from the song called "Don't Laugh At Me". The song always makes me cry and this poem hit the same spot. VERY beautiful. I love poetry that stands for something.
