Right Where I Am |
The Girl
This is the girl you thought you knew
The one who believed all your lies
She is the one who you thought you could hold
But today she spreads her wings to fly
She was not decent enough to meet your friends
Only good enough for nighttime pleasures
You took her for granted
No longer will she be at your leisure
Going against her better judgment
She stayed in silence waiting
You could not even make time to call
Her heart you were continually breaking
You spoke of how you loved her
Keeping her dangling on a thread
How could you really
Do you know her tears each night soaked her bed
She fell hard and fast for you
Finding rocks now lay beneath her fall
She had thought you to be different
Letting down her carefully constructed walls
I watched as she fell from grace
Wishing I could take her pain
Screaming from inside for her to hear me
As I listened to her gripping to stay sane
I see now a shadow of the girl I knew
Wanting her to once more be happy
The girl is in my reflection
This girl is me
