Just Me & You

The only thing that parts us –

The long road, the split road.

Together we can't be anything,

Can't even just be friends.

But then what can we be?

Just you? And just me?

Without you I feel wrong –

No part of me is right.

I feel there is no day;

I feel there is no night.

But then what can we say?

Should we just go our own way?

My heart is slowly dying,

Yet I claim to be okay.

First it came September,

Slowly strengthening in May.

What does this mean, I'll never know.

But should I claim we're together… or just let it go?

I may know you,

But you may not know me.

Is silence not golden?

Or is that the key?

Because now we are lost,

Knowing only history.

As well as I know you?

After all that we've been through.
