You took my hand and promised me that you would always be with me

Never would I have to look too far away, right there you would be

You promised me that everything was going to be okay because you would always care

You promised me that if I ever needed you, you would always be right there

You touched my face and soothed me gently as you sang my favorite song

You promised me that you'd help me every step of the way to be strong

You promised me that you'd always be there, that you'd always be my guide

You promised that you would love me forever and always be by my side

You wiped away my tears as they continued to flow down my face

You promised me my heart would heal but I had to let new love take it's place

You promised me that my life would go on and would not be interrupted by death

You promised me that you'd take my love with you, and then you took your last breath
