Love's Mock Innocence

Views (101) Pain Created on 1-18-08 Flag

The way you smile

The way you cry

The way you scream of days gone by

And with each tear

Each slicing fear

A life is torn from love’s precious sigh

Your quenching love

Your passionate touch

To think that this could be too much

And can I stand

To let go your hand

Will this infatuation ever be enough?

Emotion grows

As your kiss slows

And swells into a blooming rose

But pain cuts in

And chills your skin

And fervent heat is swiftly froze

The realization

That this is done

Cuts with the thought that dark has won

And as you fall

Your life withdraws

The darkest clouds blot out the sun

You fall away

Thus ends the way

When love lasts forever and a day

Your cold, dead lips

Your lifeless hips

They bring such pain and endless gray…

And agony and death and mold

The bitter ways of young and old

Have taken their toll upon the foretold

And melted even the purest gold

No more is your body mine to hold

The way of death is much too bold

What once was free now must be sold

And darkness, darkness, darkness cold…

And light is gone, the rays of sun

Your eyes are shut, your life is done

And I stand still, unable to run

While to my head I place a gun…

The shot rings out and my skull breaks

Down to the ground as my heart aches

A saga of all love’s mistakes

And the wicked paths that evil takes…

And all from love’s mock innocence.
