I shed a tear
For anger full
Inside my heart
Inside my soul
I clench my fists
I bite my tongue
I hold back words
That come undone
My face is taut
My body stiff
I try to stop
But can’t resist
The cutting words
The clenching slap
One more day’s hurt
And one more trap
A slight dull ache
Inside my heart
At your pained face
I’ve done my part
I’ve finalized
The hurt anew
It only came
From hurting you
I cannot love
Or smile again
Until my heart
Rejects the sin.
