i look at you and smile.
you smile back.
im trying to read your expression.
trying to figure out whats going on.
im getting pretty good at it.
i can tell when youre about to cry.
thats the face i see the most.
it breaks my heart everytime.
you still laugh and smile.
but theyre not the same as they used to be.
your laugh is hollow.
theres nothing to it.
and your smile.
its fake most of the time.
but i think what gives you away most is your eyes.
they dont shine the way they used too.
and if you want the honest truth, i miss it.
i miss the way your eyes used to be so bright.
now they always look sad.
i think theyre the saddest theyve ever been.
you could be smiling your fake smile
and laughing your hollow laugh
but darling, your eyes give you away.
