I am left alone,
And I am expected to carry on
Like nothing weak ever breaks
Like nothing dark ever goes black
Nothing has a permanence
But am I expected to think like you:
Nothing free ever gets caged
Nothing new collects dust
How many lies must we devour
Until our minds become obese?
Ridicule is my only company
My shadow is my only friend
These are the only two I keep constantly
For the rest are as permanent as my fate engraved in the sand
