A Dark Cloud Lingers

When I was new to this world,
a dark cloud lingered above my head.
'Twould foreshadow a life of misery and depression.
The dark cloud would haunt my life,
and would never go away.
There were some days of sunshine
but there were only a few.
The dark cloud would see more pain
and cease not to all my tears.
Many nights were spent crying
for hope that would never come.
Several nights I had pondered
if this was worth dealing with.
But somehow I remained strong
and learned how to endure.

Yet, the dark cloud still lingers
hanging just over my head.
Forever, shall it consume
my depressed heart and spirit
until the day that I am dead.
