Strength

Views (28) Respect Created on 6-18-08 Flag

You see it in the bald woman

who holds her head high

You see it in the frightened soldier

unsure of himself, but for his country he will die

You see it in a mother's last push

to bring in a new life

You see it in a bruised child's smile,

even when he has been through so much strife

You see it hardened in people's eyes,

a bright, burning fire

that will never die

as long as they persevere

You see it in times of trouble,

of want, and of need

when the world seems to crumble

and nothing seems to succeed

You see it as slowly but surely,

strength finds its way

into the rough edges and steep places

of the climb we face everyday

Because strength is the drive

when everything else is futile

to push through

and survive
