Once Upon A Happy Time

In the land right next door,

You heard screaming and closed the window

And shut and locked the door.

In a land far, far away,

Hunger plagues everyone

As well as diseases that morph faster than light

And affect everyone under the sun.

In the little-known town of Everywhere,

There’s a teenage, unwed mother who’s feeling quite alone,

But the doctors have got it under control.

In no time at all, her nuisance can be gone.

Forgotten and clinging to a teddy bear,

An orphanage blanket soaks his tears.

No one knows the pain the drugs have inflicted

Mentally, emotionally, physically through the years.

Just like that girl whose wrists bleed daily

Is just looking for a brand new chapter

The human race plagues the earth and

There’s not (nor will there be) a happily ever after.
