The Knife

take the knife,
cover the pain,
mask my feelings,
this is just another day,

my skin is ripping apart,
my blood is dripping down,
this cannot be normal,
but this is all I have,

the knife is stained with all my shiny red blood,
as I scar myself again and again,
to cover up the eternal damage in my soul

gone is the hate and hurt,
the stress is released,
no tears are to be shed,
they are kept inside fueling my turmoil,

         So...

I'll take the knife,
and cover my pain,
mask my feelings,
   knowing,
that this is what keeps me alive,
day after day
