Broken Down and Beaten Out
you see this girl on the outside,
who always has a smile on her face,
while luaghing at everything and nothing,
trying to keep up on everybodys pace,
!!!
people make fun of her because of her hair,
which is wavy and curly, bound to be frizzy,
they laugh in her face because she is poor,
which isn't her fault her parents hadn't made the samrt decisions,
they laugh at her behind her back,
because her clothes aren't expensive enough or stylish,
but, thats not her fault she can't afford that kind,
!!!
through all of this though,
she keeps a smile on her face,
and nods at people with good grace,
laughing along with, not seeing what's so funny,
wondering how people could be so cruel,
!!!
she thinks I can only be who I am,
people shouldn't be so caught up on what I look like on the outside,
they should see me for who I am on the inside,
!!!
she tries not to let the ridicule and humiliation bother her,
and it worked really good,
until that one fatefulday,
!!!
people had been laughing at her all day at school,
event eh teachers seemed to like joining in on the "fun",
the school day finally was over,
and the poor girl went home,
!!!
at home it was even worse than at school,
the colors of red and black swirled all around her after her parents beat her,
her parents left to go to a bar, they only beat her this nice when they were sober,
!!!
the little girl could taste the blood in her mouth,
crying in pain,
her tears wree rushe ddown her face,
by the red waterfall coming down it, from the gash in her head,
!!!
she got up from the floor and went to the kitchen,
boy she was ready when she grabbed the knife,
she slashed each wrist five time,
then took out rope in the cupboard,
hung it where she wouldn't be able to touch the ground,
stepped on a chair and tied the rope around her neck,
stepped off, and you know the rest,
!!!
her parents came home finally at seven in the morn',
they stood in horror looking at the scene of their daughter,
they called the paramedics and police, who arrived and said "too late,"
after they left, the mother found a note under where the body had hung,
she unfolded it and it was a suicidal note, in a poem,
saying;
!!!
"I tried so hard,
but nobody could see me,
I was laughed at and humiliated,
and beaten by my own parents,
nobody cared about what they were doing,
or how much pain was caused,
I laughed along with them,
but slowly died inside,
so I took my life."

That may be the best poem I've ever read. It's so well written and kept my attention the whole time. It's sad. It reminds me of me when I was around twelve, only different. Amazingly brilliant. Loved!!!! |
