A change in the weather

Staring up at the cloudy sky,

I take in the deep mist of frustration.

The rain comes down harder than before,

leaving me breathless and unable to speak.

The changing weather doesn't bring the sunshine.

Instead, it brings the lightning that shocks my soul.

As frightened as the birds are, they make sure to flock inside my head.

Now the sky is a dark, hazing  whirl of disaster.

There's no more opportunity for a blue sky.

Every flower is withering and leaving me.

All I wanted was a day in the sun.

A day to be happy and free.

Some kind of escape.

Away from the cold.

Away from life.

Away from me.
