Lost

I smiled and pretended like nothing was wrong.

I stared you in the face and told you to go.

Since it was what you wanted.

I wished I could have said more.

I wish I told you what you leaving was doing to my heart.

I never thought it would be so painful,

To watch the one person I wanted to be with move away.

You thought we were just friends,

And we could always talk to each other over the phone.

You never thought that I wanted more than friendship.

I thought that you leaving was going to kill me,

But you told me you would come back some day,

To hang with old friends.                        

Well you came back to do just that.

But you were different.

You acted nervous around me,

And wouldn’t look at me.

I thought maybe you had found out about my love for you.

But it was different,

While away from me you realized how much you cared for me.

But we couldn’t be together,

I was with someone else,

And you were to afraid to ask me.

I dream of what it would have been like with you.

I see us in each others arms and no cares in the world.

But they are only dreams,

And not everything you wish for comes true.

I just wish I could have told you,

I love you.
