science of stares

(i wrote this 9-5-07 the irony of what happened months after i found this amazes me)

Mute to the feel of the ignorant stare

such an odd way to be when so many like me

with a laughing stranger, I've found myself confused

for i was the one who spoke in the name of confidence

Not comprehending the way i feel

but to put in on paper for another to find

Outsider am i, with out a home

a safe place diminished and left for me to fake a smile 

Irritation with hurt creeping in me

but since when do i care what people think?

i guess today, my friend

why has such an opposite contrast become to in common?

Not understanding how we fit

Arrogant eyes turn another color

Lost in a science of ignorant stares,

or is it my eyes that have yet to see?
