Snipping the Knot

If only he would see me

for who I am,

he would see

that i don't give a damn.

He revealed who he is,

Mr. Big Shot,

but I don't care

because I'm tied in a knot.

He's only there

to help me relieve

what I always see,

all these people

that know me the best.

Only one is above all the rest.

He has passed every test,

but I must confess

that he's not the best.

He has a lot going for him,

but he's not the greatest

thing in this life,

but I see through the negatives,

and he's still on my mind.

Will you be there for me

if I get off my leash?

Will you be there to hold me back

before I jump into the sea

that's waiting for me?

Before my heart turns black?

Before I turn back?

What if I said

I still wanted you?

What if I died

because  I came unglued

again and again?

I could cut the knot.

It would come undone,

along with me.
