†Forever a child†

Growing up, years gone past

i thought my childhood would forever last

and as these years leave me by 

i stop to ponder and wonder why

all the years that have come and gone

trying to forget what has gone wrong

this long path of growing up

from scrapped knees and lollipops

to suicides and moments of grace

all the things that's happened in the place

the things that changed me shaped me

molded me and made me into who i will be

it seems like a lifetime these 17 years past

how long will these memories last

i've learned so much and have much to learn

for more of God is what i yearn

to walk in his steps and follow with pride

be happy in life and take it in stride

when i'm weak he will carry me

he will show me grace his love and his care

and if i listen that still small voice is still there

so i will remember as i grow old

my heart Jesus will forever hold
