You wonder why I refuse to talk?

You stick your nose where it doesn’t belong

My pain is your entire fault!

What kind of mother

Puts her own daughter down?

What kind of a father

Knocks his child to the ground?

What kind of a brother

Hurts me in every single way?

What kind of a grandmother

Turns her back to this every day?

What kind of an aunt

Make me work beyond my extent?

What kind of a family

Can’t even afford their rent?

You say I’m the one

Who will turn this family around

But you can look when I’m grown

My face will never be found

Why can’t you accept me?

Just because I’m not the perfect southern belle?

Why can’t you love me for me?

And not the girl I was before I fell?

Family means:

honor and love

Faith, understanding,

And support when times are tough

You practice that with each other

But shun me instead

Don’t you see
