Our Sand Dollar |
The Tragedy
I've never fought like this before
To leave my heart in pieces of two
Running out your apartment door
The very last time that I saw you.
I remember the night, so cold it seemed
My breath just smoke in the air
I cried so hard, struggling with the key
Trying to escape from there
The place we had our biggest fight
I've never wept so hard before
And now I'm crying into the night
Trying to heal my heart so sore
I cried so loud from my pure pain
Angry at the world I knew
I screamed out loud your precious name
A sign that I was missing you
I need to turn this car around
To bring you back into my arms
But the wheels keep spinning round and round
To the ice, my car holds on
Red lights flashing, a siren wails
People shouting to hold on
Blood drains from my face so pale
I take my last breath, then I'm gone
What a tragedy

Wow! This is a great poem. Both a physical tragedy and a tragedy of the heart both ending in death. |
