Our Sand Dollar

Views (234) Love Created on 7-20-06 Flag

The day Joe and I met, we walked along the beach where he eventually gave me a beautiful sand dollar. I promised I would keep it with me. Unfortunately, during a move, my sand dollar broke. This made Joe sad. Now Joe is away in Poland and I've been wanting to give him something special. I spent four hours creating this gorgeous gift of which I have this poem and our sand dollar, glued as best as I could get it. There are some pieces missing, which represent the unknown future. It's our job to put the pieces together in order to get the full picture. Sometimes things in life can easily be fixed with a little glue and time, just like our sand dollar...

Once a whole, you gave this to me
A symbol of what would come to be
Now broken into tiny specs
Afraid a sign of what is next
But I gathered the scraps and the glue
A signal that a fix is soon
The picture is a whole no more
But that's the adventure of what's in store
So let's put this picture back together
A promise that you'll be mine forever.
