As So Does The Leaf |
Go! Go! Go!
GO! GO! GO!
The constant rantings
and ravings of a Sunday afternoon
rang throughout the hallways and out the
door to where I sat playing
usually with little toy cars
or trucks moving the
ever abundant Oklahoma sand
from one place to another, mom
always says most of it went directly
to my shoes.
TOUCHDOWN!!
rang loudly louder than the
GO's then echoed back from
the house across the street.
I jump up destroying vast
sand highways and interchanges
as I run to the living room and
pretend to be interested in something
that I can't begin to fathom,
wanting to just too young
to comprehend. "Hey! your
daddy wasn't a glass blower"
the aging old man would say
sitting in his throne awaiting
his blue and silver army's
victory.
