Now that you are gone

Now i've been thinking....

through all our years....

and i suddenly realize, through a blanket of tears:

When you were here, I sometimes wished you would leave me alone.

When you were here, I sometimes wished I could be on my own.

When you were here, I sometimes did my best to break you down.

When you were here, I sometimes wished you weren't around.

When you were here, I was the baby sister, I acted my part.

When you were here, I had no idea how your absence would hurt.

When you were here, I had no idea what i would soon miss.

When you were here, I never imagined I'd miss being called "lil' sis"

Now that you're gone, I feel a great loss.

You're so far away, my heart is a'toss.

Now that you're gone, I anxiously await for your return,

Now that you're gone, so many lessons, I have learned.

When you return, I will greet you with open arms...

But i know no embrace will make up lost time,

I know no embrace will change your mind,

of what you have become, i am so proud,

but my heart is screaming, oh so loud.

I think of the things I have done so unkind,

I can't seem to get it all out of my mind.

The day i look forward to most in my life,

is simply the day i welcome you home.

I wait, I pray, I cry, I am alone in this world with all my friends,

because when it comes down to it, you're the best 'til the end.
