To Someone Special. |
Because of Our Age
When I'm in his arms
I'm protected from all evil.
When I'm in his arms
I can hear his heart beat.
As I hold on tight to him,
He says, "It will end. It will end."
He tells me to have faith,
But I find it hard to have,
Especially in this time and place.
He tell me to await the end,
But I have little patience for waiting
When I'm not in his arms.
My parents forbid our relationship
As more than just friends.
They say it is to protect us both.
To protect him from jail,
And me from emotional pain
That hurts like a hundred stabbing knives.
He is 20 and I 16.
What no one knows is
How much it hurts already,
The pain's more than I've ever felt.
I don't know how to cope,
For I can't stop thinking of him.
He has given my knowledge
Only the heart could know.
Knowledge of true love and faith.
Now all I need is a virtue,
The virtue of patience.
Patience will dissolve the hurt I feel.
His voice is like a soothing hand.
His voice calms my heart,
Like the home when homesick.
His words give knowledge,
Knowledge no book can give the searching soul.
He is my only comfort in this world of pain.
When I long to see him all day,
Because I hurt so much,
I call him to hear his voice.
That seems to help ease the pain,
Pain caused by the longing to see him,
Somehow...his voice is enough.

His voice calms my heart, Like the home when homesick.
