Thank You Nanny |
Thank You Nanny
Now that you are gone we realize
That we have yet to say
Thank you for your love and kindness
Shown in every way
I know before we were too young
To realize all you did
And be grateful for the time you spent
With three silly little kids
All we could say would be just a portion
Of all the loved you shared
I’m sure no one will truly know
Just how much you cared
But thank you Nanny for the times
You told us all those stories
Of winning ping-pong tournament games
In all your high-school glory
Thank you for letting us squeeze beside you in your chair
Though there was only room for one
Thank you for letting us style your hair
Though it was already done
Thank you for letting us pick
The prettiest flowers you grew
And for letting us walk around in your shoes
Even though they were new
Thank you for letting us play with your bread dough
Although you needed to use it
And letting us giggle when you napped
And for pretending you never knew it
Thank you for sitting and watching
Countless hours of cartoons
And letting us rummage through every drawer
In every single room
Thank for letting us play
With all your trinkets setting ‘round
Or any other item
We girls had ever found
We thank you that you’d interfere
When we’d begin to fight
Or else we’d scream and pull each other’s hair
With all our might
Memories of times spent with you
Are held close to are hearts
But since you’ve gone I know my heart
Is missing one prime part
So we say thank you Nanny
One last time
For aiding us we grew
No three girls could have turned out so well
Without a Nanny like you
