Long nights of walking the floor

calming you with a lullaby

anything to make the tears stop

frustrated and tired, I would cry

There is so much more in those moments

At the time I was blind to see

but the more you grow and with each day

you become more and more a part of me

Sticky popsicle fingers grasp mine

as we walk aimlessly beneath the sun

Your eyes sparkling with curiousity

Amazed by everything, taking them in one by one

The end of the day is growing near, the sun sets

Casting it's shades of pinks, oranges, and purples across the sky

Time for bed I kiss you goodnight

Time for another lullaby

Singing softly, Hush little baby...

A memory comes to mind

of time I thought unpleasnt things

in the midst of sleepless nights

I hold you closely the tears rain down

forgive me, my little one

There was never a moment when I didn't love you

and there will never be one to come
