Helping Hand

I'm surrounded by darkness and I'm screaming for help
I'm searching for feelings that I haven't yet felt:
A feeling of acceptance that I can just be me
A feeling of forgivness; I need to find relief

I'm reaching for someone but there is nobody there.
I'm lost and alone with plenty of pain to spare.
With only emptiness left where my heart should be
I'm wondering is there anyway to escape this misery?

But beyond the darkness I see some light
With caring arms stretched apart, wide.
I'm sorry that it took so long, but now I finally realize,
Even though I went astray, You were always by my side.

You've always accepted me for the person that I am
I just couldn't see your love or how, for me, you had better plans.
I thought that I knew what was best for me in my life
But now I know that You are the strength that gives me the will to fight.

When it's so dark that I can't even see my hand infront of my face,
The light from Your latern is how I will find my way.
And although I may go astray sometimes, for I am only human,
I will never forget that You will always be there to reach out a helping hand.

So, I want to say thank you, Lord, for every day that I am alive
For everytime You forgave my sins and erased the tears I cried.
Thank You, for everything that I have in this life of mine.
If it weren't for You, I'd still be lost and have no happiness inside.
