My Soul |
My Pilot
What comes from in the heart now swells to the highest heights aloft
And glitters in the dawn of day as the sky looks fair and soft
I hope to see my pilot dear and hold his precious hand
As I think of where he’s at right now over ocean or clear sand
For he said before his last flight here will you be my wife my love
Will you hold my heart as you do right now as softly as this dove
My heart beats still when he’s abroad and my soul begins to yearn
For my pilot in his uniform with his smile and his stopping turn
He caught me when he said hello I knew it was meant to be
I wonder if he’ll hold me like the first time we were free
For my heart is his and he holds it safe as he soars across the sky
And I’ll hold him near to me right now as I think my love will fly
For the truth be told I love him and he loves me in return
And no one here on earth can cause our love to burn
For love begets the flight of life and sets our wings right out
And makes my whole soul lively now and gives the world this shout
I love you my pilot yes I do I love you all day long
I think of you so tenderly as I sing our special song
So fly each day as you’re abroad with my love protecting you
And be the one who holds my breath and the one my love pursues
