Trying to sleep
Something won't let me.
Worry for the smallest of the house,
Ill again, restless and coughing.
Light in the passage, faint
Phone it must be you and your games again my little heart!
From our bed I rise, irritated and tired,
Trying to keep it from my voice.
K please give it to mommy,
He must be on his brother's bed to be that fast!
No child there! Heart beats a little faster.
Loving move the smallest from the chair to his bed.
Pillows in place,
He is safe,
Back to what made me arise.
Hand on child in top bed, but wait.
Something is wrong here!
Regular heartbeat, deep breathe,
Little heart is deep in slumber,
But the light came in here, I saw it!
Heart beating, worry!
Is it a warning?
Something to rouse me to check?
All seems well...
Stand and listen to my babies breathing!
Heart slows to match their rythme,
Slowly creep back to bed.
Hold you to quell my churning mind.
Start to drift into slumber,
5 shots ring out in the darkness!
I wait to listen , to see what to do,
There it is again, the light in the passage.
Who are you and what do you want?

I like the built up suspense in this one. I like the contrast b/ween the creepiness and the softness-if that makes any sense?? I dunno, I'm tired. But anyhow, I thought you did a good job w/ it :) |
