My hearts tearing in two
With each word spoken
The knife digs deeper
Deeper into my fragile heart
Your words are like a dagger
Cutting my heart in two
You say I'm your best friend
Say you'll never hate me
But those aren't the words I want to hear
The words I want to hear would heal my heart from all past wounds
From all past heartbreaks
The words I want to hear are these
I love you to
But I can't hear you speak those
Because if you spoke those words at this time
You would be speaking a lie
And that's all I need right now
I fell in love with the person you are now
Not the person you'll be in four years
The person you are now
And you're the person who tore my heart in two
Because we were better off as friends.
