The Beast

The Beast

The night was dark and silent

But then she heard an eerie sound

She stood still and squinted her eyes

Then started to look around

It was too dark to see anything

The landscape just a blur

But she wasn’t alone in the graveyard

The beast was watching her

She should have walked the long way round

Underneath the bright street lights

But she’d gone this way many a time

She thought she’d be alright

She knew she wasn’t alone now

And could sense a presence was near

She tried to take a step forward

But her body was frozen with fear

Something caught her eye just ahead

She could see the beast’s silhouette

Foolishly she chose not to run

“Maybe he hasn’t seen me yet.”

But he had and was starting to move closer

She knew now she was in danger

Fearing for her life she turned her back

And ran from this menacing stranger

He soon caught up and cornered her

Her back was against the fence

The beast moved slowly toward her

His stare was so intense

She closed her eyes and started to pray

Thoughts running through her head

But nobody could help her now

She knew she was already dead
