You Ignored Me

Cold, cold water surrounds me now

And I’m reaching out for your hand

Can you see me?  Can you hear me?

Do you choose to ignore the dreams I’d planned?

I’m drifting further away from you

Trying to shout out your name

You always said you’d be there for me

To take away this pain

I need you more now than ever before

But still you walk away

As the water keeps on rising

My mind’s in disarray

I lift my hand to hail you

Only now I’m slipping under

I’m sinking into the darkness

My thoughts begin to wander

I asked for your help not once, but thrice

Yet you never came to my aid

All I wanted was your advice

Now my faith has been betrayed

I’ve never claimed to be a religious man

But I still believed in You

I won’t be asking for your help again
