Wrong Direction

I can feel the warmth coursing through my veins

The electricity when you brush your skin against mine

When you walk away this feeling remains

A feeling that goes way beyond the sublime

When you entered my life, you entered my soul

You’ll be a part of me whatever destiny decides

I know that our fate is out of my control

But for now I’m content, enjoying the ride

I never imagined this love could exist

I was sure that fairytales told children lies

But I knew they were true from the first time we kissed

When you told me you loved me, it was there in your eyes

I was happy, at first, to find a love so divine

Not realising the seeds of jealousy had been planted

I EXPECTED your love... thought you’d always be mine

And that’s when I started to take you for granted

I pushed the wrong buttons, hoping for a reaction

We slowly grew apart and I blamed you

I was never accountable for my own actions

Never stopping to think what you were going through

I hurt you when I knew you didn’t deserve it

Throwing away something that could have been special

I found true love, but I didn’t preserve it

Instead choosing a path paved in denial

Once part of my life, always part of my soul

I gave destiny a helping hand

I now realise fate was in my control
