I Tried

I’m trapped in a world I can’t get out of

God knows I could have tried

It hurts to write these words again

Since I tried so hard to hide

The pain I’ve been feeling for so very long

The many times I’ve lied

To people so important to me

Just to save some fucking pride

But I want to SHOUT out “HELP ME!”

I want people to see I’ve cried

To see that I’m as vulnerable as they are

And that I’m hurting deep inside

But I know I can’t be the real me

So I’ll cast my feelings aside

I’ll stifle all the pent up emotion

Only on paper will I confide

And admit that I want to give up

Unleash the feelings I’ve denied

Every day I feel more like a shell

As another part of me has died...
