Turning to night

The sky caves in

I lay there watching

As it all begins

 

Air turns cold

And stars go out

Death seems imminent

There’s no one about

 

Glistening rain of fire

Suddenly pours down on Earth

Once what was beautiful

Is now a scorched turf

 

Church bells ring

And sirens screech

People become frantic

Pastors start to preach

 

Thunderous rumbles

Wail from the sky

As I lay there watching

I don’t bother wondering why
