The Old Chalkboard

The Old Chalkboard

Dirty ash fingernails
Scrape the screaming blackboard
Shaving away the fingertips
With the razor blades of friction

A child’s crying skin
Torn helplessly from the bone
Imprints a trail of tears
From the corners to the ledge

& whom traced the chalk
Around the edges of his palm?
As he scraped frantically for help
Before the plummet of his wrists

It was written and washed away
In the studies of the night
They wheeled away his board
To teach a new lesson

AvengeNovember Oh, my goodness... Such fantastic poetry. I'm simply speechless. This one is my favorite of yours by far. Something about it... something about the morbidity and the macabre darkness makes it intense beyond belief. Wonderful.
