A Falling Star
Seems like we’ve gotten so far
And yet still there’s so much left to travel
Like reaching up to capture a star
That’s how far from you I feel right now
I see your face in the patterns of the sky
I need to feel you by my side
My heart stretches forth to receive any reply
But all I can hear is silence
As I whisper words into the darkness
The light of night comes down catching my eye
I feel the breeze rushing, bringing a convicting coldness
Empty lights hold no comfort tonight
This distance burns me
Leaving scars I cannot erase
This heartache consumes me
Underneath this sky I wait
Do these brilliant lights I see
Even know that I exist
Does this breeze brushing against me
Even feel that I am here
Though we’ve gotten this far
Looking back I feel so small
My dimly glowing star
So weak compared to the sun you left behind
I feel your presence alive all around
In lives everywhere but within mine
I’ve become a falling star crashing to the ground
So distant from where you placed me in the sky
I speak all the words that I know
But still they don’t make you any more near
In this cold night I’m frozen like winter snow
Looking up I see the light
This distance burns me
Heating what was cold
This heartache consumes me
Reaching out towards the light
I’m a falling star
That has skidded across icy ground
I’ve come so far
But I can’t raise myself up
Underneath this sky I wait
Thawing out the scars I’ve made
Looking up into the coming light
Seeing the hope in the rising sun
As it comes the darkness breaks
The sun lifting me up off the ground
Rising up my scars it takes
Placing me back into the sky
I once was a falling star
But the old has once again been replaced
Shining again I can only go so far
But in this sky I’m not alone
Each time I fail, I will be lifted
Each cut I receive, shall be taken
And once again I know I shall be tested
But all the miles traveled have their guiding purpose
No comments yet, be the first to say something.
