A Fathers Justice

When Felton’s parents finally passed on,
he prayed to find a wife each day.
He worked on the farm from dawn till dusk,
but knew God would find him a way.

He met a lady in Church one Sunday
and invited her out to his farm.
As he began to court her quite often
he fell for her beauty and charm.

They were only one year into marriage
until she gave birth to a girl.
Felton loved his wife very deeply,
but the child became his world.

His wife tried hard, but just couldn’t stay,
so she left and broke Felton’s heart.
We know he finally got over his wife,
but the little girl tore him apart.

The wife remarried and decided to move
to a town three hours away.
He saw his child one weekend a month
and they alternated holidays.

His daughter reached her sixteenth year
and he bought her a very nice car.
He hoped since she had a car to drive
she wouldn’t say he lived too far.

He noticed her car in the drive and worried,
she was not due to visit that day.
Then he saw her crying and shaking
and she never had acted that way.

The more she told him, the angrier he got,
but he held her trying to wipe her tears.
She told him how her mother’s husband
had been raping her now for years.

He picked her up and carried her home
gave her a pill and put her in bed.
He almost went to bring back the sheriff,
but took both of his guns out instead.

The jury tried hard to find him not guilty
and most wanted to just let him go,
But Felton had not just killed the man,
he had made sure the man died slow.

His daughter comes to visit each Sunday,
sits with him and talks for awhile.
He can tell she is doing a lot better,
sometimes she laughs and smiles.

He has finally managed to help her see
in no part did she have any blame.
Now she is married with her own children
and she knows she would do the same.
