The Storm In My Heart

All of my thoughts are of storms and dark skies,
tears drop like a rain cloud stays in my eyes,
Hard rain, strong winds, they both pound my heart,
what sanity I have left, I am afraid will soon part.

It steals my tomorrows, this thief of the night
and stays in my head to laugh at my plight.
All my flowers it wilts with these dark cloudy days
and it scares my loved ones into going away.

I try hard to stop it, but it seems not to care,
living in my mind it is always right there.
It comes out as it pleases chipping at my pride
and I feel so ashamed I wish I had died.

The doctors I see know this illness by name,
they see it often and know well it’s game.
They try their best to get me out of this hell
and fill me with hope I will get well.

My thoughts will one day be of sunny clear skies,
the tears that now rain will stay in my eyes.
The wind from the storms will not pound my heart,
as my sanity returns, depression will depart.
