Sixteen

Today's my birthday

i am now sixteen

trying hard to be heard

and trying to be seen

You're all so busy

I guess you forgot

It's not that important

it doesn't mean alot

Who am I kiddin'?

my heart aches like hell

of course it's important

as far as i can tell

So i guess this is it

One candle, one cupcake

one wish and one prayer

That this is all a mistake

Exhaling my breath

I blow out the flame

Feeling sorry for myself

And feeling realy lame

The telephone rings

It's  a friend on the line

She says it's real urgent

i better come,don't waste time

i knock on the door

but nobody hears

How strange it's unlocked

i'm thinking of fears

i open the door

It creeks with a sound

Switch on the lights

and see many around

they all yell "Surprize!"

Jumping from unknown places

I'm startled to death

but i recognize their faces

my family remembered

they actually care

i feel so stupid

All i can do is stare

They all sing aloud

that traditional song

So ashamed am I

To have been so wrong.
